SFC Moscow stands still; watches John Bunyan’s Pilgrim Progress.

The aura in fellowship today was well beyond description as SFC Moscow, glued to their seats, watched in awe as the pictures of John Bunyan’s Pilgrim Progress flickered through the screens, illustrating the truth in the journey of a Christian to the Father.

Given the huge hype and media fame the 25th of May SFC Cinema received, it becomes only logical to conclude that Tuesday 25th of May did live up to its billing.

With a charismatic Praise and Worship setting off the right tone and a run of wonderful testimonies to God’s Glory following, it was more than obvious that SFC Moscow, as a tradition, was in for yet another blessed time in fellowship, especially with a full house on board.

Pilgrim's Progress is a great work of Christian literature, now in form of a film. Originally composed in the 17th century, this spiritual allegory has entertained and delighted innumerous readers for over 300 years. Part I tells of "Christian" and his journey to "Celestial City;" Part II tells of the journey of Christian's wife Christiana and their children to Celestial City. The two parts work together as a unified whole, which describes and depicts the believer's life and struggles. Indeed, given the easy style of the book, readers of all ages can understand the spiritual significance of the depictions in the story. However, Pilgrim's Progress does not simply instruct readers with spiritual allegories; it entertains them as well, through Bunyan's creative story telling. Enjoyable and spiritually instructive, Pilgrim's Progress is highly recommended.

What To Expect Come Tuesday 25th May…

SFC Sisters fellowship May Summit

SFC Moscow sister’s fellowship got underway with an opening prayer led by Sister Funmi. Of course not without the usual pomp and pageantry of gathering up once again fresh from the Sunday services held in different churches all around Moscow, they all trooped down to the meeting venue.

The second meeting in two months, such diligence and consistency roams the mind!

A prospective two-day sister’s conference billed for November, a possible skit on SFC’s April-May Theme ‘Who am I’, planned time out after the traditional Russian сессия and a host of others formed the bulk of their witty discuss. As much as you almost would guess, there was a special time for God’s word; the book of Genesis 3:1 was the chosen reference point and the talk centered on Eve and the temptation at the garden.

Lovely enough, graduating M2 Doctors, sis Nike and Moji; and sis Regina were pretty much on hand to share their success stories and give words of encouragement; they later got the blessings of fellow sisters in prayers.

Reports have it that the sisters had a short session with Mary Kay Cosmetics; a course on Cosmetology 101 you rightly would suspect. Over all, it was once a great refreshing time the sisters had. “Had a nice time, It was indeed a great” echoed one of the sisters, questioned in an online SFC Moscow interview chat.

The curtains were drawn with prayers led by sis Ajibola of the House of Prayer Fellowship.

Pastor Nnamdi’s Visit To SFC Moscow; The Revelations!

It was another gathering of champions and a super evening of pure Word and Worship. Still exploring the new life we have received, we took a step further by unraveling more about this new identity we have gotten. But it wasn't a common Tuesday. Pastor Nnamdi Odimegwu of Christ Embassy Moscow was in the house to set a new tone. As he was speaking the Word, eyes were being opened to the PURPOSE of our new identity. Various invaluable points were made clear: In his words; 'Experience isn't the best teacher, the Holy Spirit is!', 'God sponsors no flops. Since God is my sponsor, I can never be a flop!', 'I am a profit yielding being!'.

These are just a few of the marvelous revelations that came through.
God has really started a new thing. Much emphasis was laid on us finding our purpose: God's purpose for our creation. Knowing the fact that our generic purpose is to bring glory to God, we can easily plug into His main plan for our existence.
We should strive hard not to miss out of our purpose, 'until we all come to unity in one faith'.

Such Was The Case.

He paced nervously up and down the corridor, he was obviously half conscious of what he was doing, and visibly abstracted to what went on on around him, as he was engrossed in thoughts that seemed; from the look on his face, to be enshrouded in uncertainty and fear. You could hear a silent prayer from the supplicatory look on his face. He looked anxiously through the translucent glass window hoping to catch a glimse that would give him some hope, all to no avail. He was definitely concerned about whatever went on behind those doors.
It was a middlesized room with a bed in the center; it was furnished with all sorts of monstrous looking equipments. An IV infusion pump stood some centimeters away from the bed, there was a vital signs monitor situated in a comfortable corner a small distance from the bed. It was a laborious evening for everyone in there. Strained faces, tensed looks; everyone was on the go. A woman lay on the bed, the stirr-ups were out and in use. There was an agonising look on her face and paroxysmal groanings accompanied by screaming and pushing came from her as she was assailed by the relentless contractions of her uterine muscles. You could tell she was in labour........... oh my god; it was the delivery room.
I stood watching closely and paying unwavering attention to all that went on in there; it was so intense and engrossing that i barely realised it when i fell into a state of abstractedness. I was slowly absorbed into a scenario that was very many years ago. The woman seemed to be thrown into torture by an unseen force; every contraction seemed to be a lash of the whip from a centurion, the bloodstain on the bed was gradually changed into an effusive flow of blood; it dropped and trickled all the way down. I shivered as i felt a drop fall on my hand. The groaning got louder and louder, it was interrupted only by desperate inspirations of air, the unseen fores metamorphosized into cruel lashes inflicted by the daunting whips of soldiers, the whole place seemed to be flooded with blood and water as a spear dug deep into the sides of the man who was now strapped on in place of the woman. He groaned and screamed, his words showed how much he ached to be relieved of his misery. He appeared to have infinite power to free himself but he chose to bear the cross. The voices of nurses and medical personnel culminated into shouts of mockery and contempt as acrid remarks poured out of the angry hateful hearts of all those around. Never had i imagined so much pain never had i imagined so much torture.i discovered i was no longer looking down at a bed but at a man propped up on a t-shaped wooden bar, with his hands stretched apart perpendicular to his torso. The straps that latched on to him now appeared to be nails dug right throught his palms and feet. A crown of thorn was set on his head such that it set trickles of blood into motion down the contours of his face.
I turned around to see the faces of the people, the infernals they blurted out began to sound like cries, desperate cries for help, they seemed to be in dire need of a saviour as i saw through their faces into their their hearts and minds; i could tell they were plagued by depravity. It appeared to be like the serpent biting the children of israel in the desert, as they looked up to the man on the cross who seemed to take the place of the serpent lifted up by MOses on the road to Atharim. This picture lingered on in my mind and then brightened up into the picture of the disciples looking up to one who seemed to ascend to the heavens. I realized it was the same one who was on the cross, and then suddenly he seemed to burst out of the clouds with so much glory as can not be worded. There were millions of them who watched him descend from the clouds, a golden crown on which was written 'king of kings' sat upon his head and an uncountable number of people were caught up to be with him. Their robes so white they sparkled liked they had been washed in blood, the blood that flowed from the cross.
I was brougth back to awareness by a tender cry. There was a peace and silence in the room. The struggle was over. The baby had been born. Such was to be the case of mankind. Such is the case of the saints. As she suffered the pangs of birth for one child, born into a new generation, so did Jesus suffer birth pangs for the world; even for as many as would be born into a new life for untold generations to come. I am as a child and He my mother, i am as a one in trouble and He my saviour, i am as a people and He my lord and king.......He is my essence.

‘WHO ARE YOU’ IN YOUR RELATIONSHIPS?

The tone gets pretty much lighter today as SFC Moscow throws some light on relationships; quite topical and indeed one of the most widely discussed amongst youths you readily would posit; but we never really seem to know so much.
You expect that to be loaded; full of energy and definitely eye-opening!
Still very much on the ‘who are you’ series; come, share and update your knowledge and be blessed!

SFC Moscow Tuesday Fellowship Hosts Pastor Terrence Hall; The Details!

It was a much anticipated meeting, an extraordinary Tuesday, a special meeting with Pastor Terrence and Jill Hall amongst us. It was obvious that it wasn't to pass just like that, and the atmosphere did live up to its billing.

Still pressing ahead with our study for the month, Pastor Terrence took out time to explain man's quest for identity: the image and the likeness of God. He drew attention to Genesis 1:26, where we see two distinct aspects of God in us: His Image (which is the spirit in us or what we are from the inside) and His likeness (the outward expression of Godly similarities).

In the most humorous and relaxing mood, Pastor Terrence gave new life to this image that we have. Our image knows no fear because our likeness is of God. He knows everything about us, even before we were formed. And because the image is tempted with what it doesn't have, the sin in the garden brought death to both image and likeness of God in man. But we thank God for Jesus, who has extended that same strong love that exists within the Trinity to us. Isn't it amazing to know that the love the Father has for Jesus is not stronger than the love Jesus has for me?! So blessed to be blessed and remain in that love!.

Above all, in answering the question: 'Who am I?', we can confidently say, "we are people in the love of God, created in His image and likeness, purposed to abide in His love and exhibit that same amount of love one to another".

Sequel to Volgograd 2010: Experience The Encounter.

DESPERATION’ is one of the visions of the Jesus Embassy International Students Fellowship (ISF JE).

Its uniqueness is in its objective – to bring international students together in an atmosphere of ease and relaxation under the gigantic wings of the Father. It aims at bringing out the gifts and callings of God in the youths by giving them the opportunity to stand and minister both in the Word and in songs. With VOLGOGRAD DESPERATION ’10 being the second in the series, a lot has been drawn up to produce a delectable spiritual delicacy for the participants.

The camping site is out of the Volgograd mainland – город Волжский (suburban Volzhki). It’s a serene and tranquil environment that is just apropos for this gathering of champions. Sports, games, barbeques, workshops, talent show and other special perfomances are going be spicey higlights of the camp as we get to enjoy the nature around us and get to meet one another more personally. The camp’s order of events will be a quintessential display of a well-balanced Christian life. You are welcome!

EXPERIENCING THE ENCOUNTER!!!

Take it or leave it, life is about encounters! There are some encounters that are better left in the past and there are those that will never quit the memory. There are some encounters that we look forward to. We direly seek them and daily hope to have them.

However, there is AN ENCOUNTER! And this one changes everything! When you EXPERIENCE this ENCOUNTER, there comes a paradigm shift in the whole spectrum of things. There comes a redefinition of life and purpose and there is rejuvenation in the spirit beyond sorrows. Life suddenly gets on the brighter side because you can see things clearly.

This is the encounter that we will not just be learning about but also experiencing together in VOLGOGRAD DESPERATION ’10.

Make it a date!
